Domino Publishing has made some heavy waves since its inception in 2005. The brand is synonymous with iconic commercial artists pushing the boundaries of modern music and is home to artists like Wet Leg, My Bloody Valentine, Cat Power, The Arctic Monkeys, The Kills, and Franz Ferdinand.

Domino continues the tradition of featuring trendsetting artists to their production music library, found exclusively at APM Music in the US and Canada. This catalog was founded by Paul Sandell and Gavin O’Shea and is included in their artist collective label FOLD. Sandell’s experience has traversed both the commercial and production music worlds with stints at Domino and KPM. He is credited with garnering a Mercury Music Prize nomination for releasing Hannah Peel: Fir Wave on the KPM Shine artist label. This nomination broke the barriers between the commercial and production music realms.
O’Shea cofounded the innovative Bruton artist label LoEditions whose roster includes some of the biggest names in the London underground music scene. The 1-2-3-4 album series features independent artists who performed at the famed 1-2-3-4 East London annual festival and is an example of putting breaking artists in front of Music Supervisors with access to the millions of viewers in the visual media marketplace.
The overarching philosophy of musical innovation and changing the narrative of what styles of music are available in production music libraries is on full display with the first three Domino releases.
Scottish artist Steve Mason started his career as the lead singer and one of the founding members of The Beta Band in the 1990’s. His sound is a journey of expansive soundscapes which straddle the line between electronic and acoustic Folk textures. His deep and flowing vocals blend like an instrument into the tapestry of converging melodies. Mason has two EP’s out now, “Freq Cheater” and “Catch a Light.” Check out a couple of tracks from each release:
Villagers is an experimental Indie Folk band led by Conor O’Brien and is a fan favorite in their native country of Ireland. The sound on their latest release Floating on the Essence of a Dream blends psychedelic synth and O’Brien’s “eerie sense of disquiet” as described by The Guardian.
