We live in a time when music can be produced with minimal effort. From band-in-the-box software, ready-made loops, and samples to AI generated music, what was once laborious has become increasingly simple and accessible. Sure, there are many instances when music produced this way can come up with outstanding results, depending on the genre. But for alternative singer-songwriter Jesse Daniel Edwards, his brand of music requires him to create magic the old-fashioned way: gather the band and make music.
Born and raised in Cuyamaca, California, Jesse started his musical journey at the age of four or five years old.
“I distinctly remember my first memory being playing the piano,” Jesse said in an interview inside his Nashville studio. “I was supposed to be practicing, I can’t remember what, but I already made up my mind that I wanted to make up my own melody.”
This innate desire to create launched his lifetime of musical rebellion, which gives him the freedom to write and play whatever he wants to.
He grew up listening to classical and church music but when he left home at the age of seventeen, he immersed himself in all kinds of music, which opened a whole new world.
